Mothering Sunday, as the UK and other countries celebrate it, is a religious holiday - a time to return to your mother church. The meaning has changed a bit, however since it was adopted.

Mother's Day as celebrated in the US, is an adoption of the pagan holiday of Beltane or May Day, hence it's held in May. The forum will be overrun with "mother" themes in May. It is every year.

You are partly correct in that Catholic and Protestant Christians in some parts of Europe celebrate it as a religious event however in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, Mothering Sunday is celebrated in the same way as Mother's Day is celebrated elsewhere.

In America, Mother’s Day is the second Sunday in May, as proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson in 1914. It is marked on that day because it was the result of a campaign by Anna Jarvis (1864-1948), whose own mother had died on May 9.

So do you guys want to do Mothering Sunday or Shamrock Shenanigans for March. Let me know and I'll get it all set up here in a bit. I just got back from Mom's last night. My car broke down and I had to stay and extra day so my dad and brothers could help me fix it. Ended up replacing the alternator completely. It had an alternator decoupler clutch that needed replacing but they coudn't get it off without a certain tool that apparently doesn't exist for my car (or noone has it or knows what it is) so they ended up just replacing the whole thing. Now it runs smoothly. Almost had a disaster on my hands.

Well, I don't want to do Mothering Sunday in March and then Mother's Day in May. That's too much Mum. We haven't done St. Pats in since 2013. The past two years were Easter, which is late this year, in April, and before that, Spring. I figured Spring Ahead would work if you want to do a spring kit or an Easter kit, or a springster hybrid.

I just wanted to ask since Julie brought up their mother's day. I didn't know we did them at different times. But I am good with st patty's day theme. I just retired all of mine anyway. I need a new one.

I think cause I used "mum", the British variation, but I was thinking Chrysanthemums, not mommy mums. (Incidentally, some Bostonians actually pronounce it "mum" but spell it "mom". Both are derived from the much older "mam" which in turn derives from the word "ma" which literally means breast or teat. This is also where we get the word "mammal".)

Ok I promise I'm gonna add the new palettes and themes. I am just having trouble logging in to get it done. I have to log in as an admin and it's not letting me do it. I'm doing something wrong. So I'll get it done as soon as I am able. Promise I'm not stalling. It boots me off after 5 tries and I have to come back. LOL

    4. The one with the doggie.

I like 5 too, but I think the colours are a bit too bold for a wedding kit.

Did you know up until the mid-19th century that blue was considered the traditional colour for a wedding dress? White became a popular option in 1840, after the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg, when Victoria wore a white gown to incorporate some lace she prized. The official wedding portrait photograph was widely published, and many brides opted for white in accordance with the Queen's choice.

No I didn't know that. Hmm. Ooops I was still deciding on palettes and I replaced the doggie one. I didn't see that you had seen it yet.

I found this one just now. Kind of like it too. I can't make up my mind. Trying to go by a kit I already started that has pinks and soft teal in them.

I still like the doggie one with the softer gray colours.
